Removing duplicated clinical administration

Nursing teams previously used separate systems for patient information and for transport and bed-cleaning requests. Staff had to transcribe information between applications and check both systems for updates, creating delay and avoidable risk.

Trixi used the healthcare-standard HL7 messaging protocol to connect Epic electronic medical records with the hospital's work-management environment. Staff can now initiate service requests in Epic while operational teams receive consistent work tasks and status updates across both systems.

Using real-time demand to trigger services

An earlier proof of concept connected occupancy sensors with work management to understand bathroom usage. The production solution uses entry counts to trigger cleaning tasks and notify the responding team on mobile devices.

This replaces a schedule-led process with service activity based on actual demand, while creating data that supports reporting, resource planning and continuous improvement.

The outcome

  • Simpler management of patient transport and bed-cleaning requests.
  • Less duplicate entry for clinical staff and a consistent task format for service teams.
  • Shared status visibility across clinical and operational systems.
  • Usage-based cleaning and better insight into service demand.
“Connecting clinical, work-management and sensor information streamlined administration and supported a better patient experience.”
